Alien Assault Rifle 1d by Greg Broadmore
"The tubes down the side each discharge an explosive burst of gas one after the other down the length of the barrel behind the projectile - a linear accelerator gun, like a rail gun but without the magnets. Of course it would fire these all rapidly to get a high rate of fire."

Recon of Meteora by Mark Chang.
Man, I sure do miss Rome.
It was actually an impulse decision to go on this (expensive) school trip, driven by an event prior that led to serious depression and rancor. I’d practically dgaf’d it to “get away”, otherwise I’m 100% positive I would have never gone.
Ironically, during the trip, something ensued that brought back the very past I was trying to escape. I can’t deny that it vexed me to the core, but its constant company forced me to self reflect instead of just running away. It was a bittersweet trip, to say the least. But overall, it was a memorable one, and as I recover from myself, I slowly recall more pleasant memories than bad.
A silver lining, so to speak.
